Mario's Galactic Adventure Preview Debuts, Revealing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Voice Cast

Nintendo alongside Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. It was showcased in a special Nintendo Direct that highlighted the upcoming animated film.

Following up on the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will send Mario to the far corners of the cosmos. Along the way, he discovers a fresh princess character and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.

An Interstellar Journey Drawing from Beloved Titles

Much like the Wii-era games that act as its source material, Mario will leave behind the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. During his grand adventure, he will reunite with some recognizable characters, such as the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.

But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who reportedly commands metallic abilities. Interestingly, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also features references to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

All-Star Vocal Ensemble Returns and Expands

The film will see the return of the primary vocal talent, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.

Mario's Major Moment

Mario's latest cinematic adventure is set to release close to the 40-year celebration of the original Super Mario Bros. game. In addition to the movie, 2026 promises to be a important time for Mario and his friends.

Nintendo confirmed a trio of new releases already confirmed for that year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Launch Date Set

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
